The Potato Storage ( IS: Kartöflugeymslan ) is a family run apartment guesthouse in the embrace of the mountains of Öræfi. The apartments are perfect for people who want to enjoy the peace and tranquility in the Icelandic countryside, want to have good time in each place when travelling and have the opportunity to prepare their own meals when they feel like it. It is also convenient when travelling with a child. Since the area offers many of the most visited attractions in Iceland alongside recreational opportunities, this is a good location to stay for more than one night.

All our apartments have a private entrance, a private kitchen and private bathroom.

How to find us

About the neighborhood

The Potato Storage is located in Svínafell, and the road to us lies next to Svínafell campground. To the west we have a great view of the large outlet glacier Skeiðarárjökull, and the mountains of Skaftafell. Jökulsárlón is located 55 km to the east with its floating icebergs and Diamond Beach, often packed with smaller pieces of ice.

About 8 km. to the west you will find Skaftafell, which is part of Vatnajökull National Park, were there are several interesting hiking trails including waterfalls and glaciers. In the area there are many recreational opportunities like glacier hikes, boat tours and bird watching tours.
